Melanie & Aaron | Canmore Silvertip Resort Wedding Photographer

My last Canmore wedding of the year… and I didn’t forget my shoes this time!:) Melanie & Aaron braved the cold for a gorgeous fall wedding out in Canmore at Silvertip Resort.  What can I say, these two are simply stunning in front of the camera.  I had several people comment that they should be on the cover of a magazine… I happen to agree!  I’m super excited for Melanie and Aaron who are also expecting their first baby.  Congratulations guys, I hope you had a good time on your honeymoon!

I was stoked to be shooting with Mathieu Young and Don Poirier, you guys rocked, thanks for all your help.  I’ve been running into some awesome DJ’s at my weddings lately, and Patrick Smiley was easily one of the best.  You can tell he’s been doing this a long time; he knew exactly what to play to keep everyone from the kids to the grandparents on the dance floor all night.  He was playing so much good music, I had a hard time leaving.

Here’s a small selection, ok a large selection of my favourites.  I had a hard time narrowing them down… seems to be a trend lately.  I guess thats what I get for having so many awesome couples this year, I’m not complaining:)

I love to read your comments so don’t be shy, enjoy!

Alicia & Clint | Canmore Portrait Photographer

I can’t even guess how old I was when I first met Alicia… apparently we were part of some twin & triplet club when we were babies… way too long ago for me to remember:P Anyway, Alicia and Clint are newlyweds and while I wasn’t able to attend the wedding I was lucky enough to meet up with them in Canmore for this session.   We had the perfect combination of fall colours, snow capped mountains and cloudy skies.  It was a little chilly but for mid October, I wasn’t complaining.   Congrats on the new marriage guys!

Simona & Scott | Saskatoon Farm Wedding Photographer

After shooting my first wedding at the Saskatoon Farm just south of Calgary back in April, I knew I had to go back.  Luckily I had another chance to shoot there this year with Simona and Scott for a small intimate wedding out on the ridge; topped off nicely by the sweet yellow Ferrari they rolled up in just before walking down the aisle.  What a fun group, Simona didn’t even have to be asked to jump up on the old grease covered tractor for a few photos.  If you’re looking for a unique country setting for your wedding you definitely have to check out the Saskatoon Farm.

Nell & Chris | Calgary Wedding Photographer

I got a little carried away and posted a ton of images from Nell and Chris’ wedding at Valley Ridge Golf Course.  I love weddings that you walk away from thinking how awesome everyone was and how much fun I’ve had.  The Crush Photobooth was a huge hit and we got lots of good blackmail pics for Nell and Chris to hold against their friends and family:P Just Kidding!  The DJ’s from Split Circuit Sound were incredible, I can’t wait to see them at another wedding!  Anyway, lots of images to look at… comments always welcome, enjoy!

Easter Seals Drop Zone 2011

Every year the Easter Seals puts on an a really cool event called the Drop Zone to raise money for people with disabilities and special needs.  This year I was so excited to be able participate and take photos of the superhero’s as they made their way down the side of Sun Life Plaza.  The team from Easter Seals was amazing and even let me rappel before I started shooting.  I have to say, its pretty intense hanging backward off the roof, looking down too the street about 30 stories below.  The guys from Crux Climbing and Bouldering worked so hard making sure everyone made it safely down the wall.

The superhero’s participating in the event had to raise at least $1500 in order to rappel and many of them raised a heck of a lot more.  The most impressive to me were the people who are deathly afraid of heights but were facing their fears doing it anyway because they knew it was a small sacrifice for a great cause.

You can check out your rappel photos at the websites below:

You can order prints of the photo booth images and the rooftop images that I took from the gallery on my website: http://clients.crushphotography.ca/gallery/dropzone2011

or

Check out the Easter Seals Drop Zone gallery for free digital downloads and images from all three photographers throughout the entire day here: http://dropzone.smugmug.com/

Congrats to all the superhero’s who made it down the rope and thanks to the volunteers, Marisa and Brett who came out to help with the Photobooth!  I can’t wait for next year!

Here are a few of the shots from my rappel… photos taken by Russ Rasmussen.  Thanks Russ!
